About

In early 2022,  I finally found myself by participating in a hiking challenge to hike 75 miles in 3 months. At first, I was overwhelmed and lacking confidence that I could do it, but as I began the challenge, I realized that I had found my passion and a means to find healing and peace. I ended up hiking 150 miles in 3 months and 500 miles in the first year. I found my happiness in hiking, learning to let go of perfection, the “have to” and “shoulds”, and trying to be who others wanted me to be instead of who I want to be.  Through hiking, I’ve reconnected with old friends and made new friends along the way.I started an Instagram page for my hiking: @hiking_with_virginia, to share photos and experiences from the countless miles I have hiked.

Many research studies support the healing physical and spiritual benefits of nature that are both intangible and directly linked to science.  Somehow, the strength to keep going, to climb the next mountain reminds me of how strong I am beyond the trail, and I am excited to share that power with others.

I’ve hiked over 1,200 miles within the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia in the past 2.5 years and enjoy exploring new trails as well.
